After two days of frustration, Herman Green Griffins star Brandon McBride finally had something to smile about Thursday at the WECSSAA track and field meet.

Slowed by a hamstring injury suffered three weeks ago, the 17-year-old McBride qualified for the senior boys’ 200-metre final at University of Windsor Stadium, but cautiously pulled out.

The defending OFSAA champion in the 400 metres, he ran a cautious race to advance to SWOSSAA next week with a second-place finish.
