Runner attends graduation instead of state meet

Gutting out all the early-morning practices and the two-a-day training sessions, Cassie Calvert committed herself to her year-round swim team for more than eight years.

After her freshman year of high school, Calvert chose to redirect her loyalties and her enthusiasm for the sports she played. Determining that her teams at Cannon School fit more conveniently into her combined zeal for academics and athletics, Calvert decided to give up year-round swimming.
