MELBOURNE — Some time ago, while driving through Los Angeles with his wife, Doug Butler saw a billboard that bore words that would become his motto: “You can rest when you die.” So he believes, and the veteran runner and running coach is living it again this steamy summer.
His “Set Goals, Not Limits” camp at Holy Trinity Episcopal Academy and Wickham Park, which started May 29, ends July 15. His Wednesday evening Gecko Fast Track/Summer Track Series meets ended when June did. To celebrate the Fourth of July, he ran in the Firecracker 5K. He will take about 40 athletes from throughout the county to a running camp at Young Harris College in north Georgia. When he returns, he will work on preparing his Holy Trinity cross country team for what he and others expect will be its 12th state championship.
