Cochran leads D-10 at Nike track meet

GREENSBORO, N.C. –– McDowell triple jumper Patrick Cochran had the best finish among District 10 entries at Friday's 19th annual Nike Outdoor Nationals.
The three-day track and field meet had its first full day of action at North Carolina A&T University's Aggie Stadium.
Cochran, an underclassman who qualified in the triple jump for last month's PIAA meet, placed 11th overall in the boys competition at 47 feet, ¼ inch. The winner was Ricardo Jaquite (49-10) of Roxbury, Mass.
Cathedral Prep underclassman John Trucilla was one of three district entries in the boys javelin. Trucilla placed 17th with a top throw of 171-5.
Greenville graduate Josiah Rupert finished 20th (169-0) and Hickory's Matt Durisko was 31st (148-7). Devin Bogert of Tomball, Texas, was the champ at 208-3.
