Wow! This is going to be exciting. I'm about to jet from work to go enjoy Charlevoix while at the same time getting into that competitive zone to execute my race plan the next morning. It is going to be sweet lining up on the streets against the likes of Olympic Trials Competitors and professional athletes along with some local elites. I remember as a sophomore in high school being at the Division 4 (small schools) state track meet and watching an amazing athlete get double victories in the 800/1600. I was in awe and thought to myself of what this guy's training must consist of year around and how that is definitely someone I would try to emulate. It just so happened it was Liam Boylan Pett known as LBP of Bath High School in Michigan at the time. I'm sure you all know what this stud has accomplished since then and he's currently part of the New Jersey New York Track Club! I am amazed at how far I have come, while still not being at the level of some of the athletes I am racing against, I continue to develop and there has not been a year go by where I haven't improved in some way. From being a 1:57/4:40 kid in high school and graduating with a class of 36 to running for Saginaw Valley State and developing into a 1:49 guy. Now I only ran one mile while at Saginaw Valley and went 4:37. I obviously have improved tremendously in the past two years since my NCAA eligibility ran out. I ran my first 1500s this year and finally won some good money in competitive road miles this summer. I topped out in 5 races at 1500 in 3:46 this year and have ran 3 road miles so far this summer going 4:08/4:03/4:02. I know I'm still a very raw athlete in terms of aerobic capacity and strength and have a ton of room for improvement. This has been a great season for me no matter what happens tomorrow, but I would love to top it off and drop a sick last 400 in this race for a PR. One more race...one more time...til Indoors...
