Middle School Coaches and Supporters,
It is that time of year again and what a year we had in the world of distance running in Oregon and beyond. Rupp, Farah, Tegenkamp, Jager, Goucher, Flanagan...wow!
We have heard from many of you throughout the year and have taken into account some of the feedback that we received after last year's State Middle School Championships.
We try to improve the experience or opportunities each year.
Here are some basic improvements:
-We are advertising a few different meets that are in Vancouver, Newburg, Albany, Corvallis and Eugene as well as our meets up in the Portland area.
-We wiil be fully in charge of the PDXC Youth Running Series meet on 10/14 and 10/28. There have been meet options added nearly every weekend.
There are some great meets we are paralleling along-Nike Pre Nationals and The Bill Dellinger Invitational both on September 29th. The Pre Nationals covers 3k of the Nike Team Nationals course at Portland Meadows. The Middle School Race at the Dellinger Invitational will follow the collegiate races and awards but be run on the same venue at the Springfield CC.
The PDXC Series will have meets on 10/14-Westmoreland, 10/21-Corbett High School, 10/28 at Fernhill Park in Portland for the Oregon State Middle School Championships.
The West Coast Conference XC Championships will be held at Fernhill Park on 10/27 being hosted by University of Portland. (UP, Gonzaga, Santa Clara, LMU, USF, BYU,USD, St Mary's) The WCC is working with the PDXC Series to have a small group of our athletes meeting some of the coach's and athletes for a clinic hosted by the WCC.
The sooner we can get teams and athletes registered for these meets it will only help with our organization. Please remember to have your athletes sign the waiver that is on the Runnerspace site and bring it with them to the meets we are hosting.

I apologize for getting this out so late but it has been a busy Spring and Summer and some of the coordinating of some of the events and locations has taken some time.
I hope many of you were able to enjoy the Olympic Trials, TrackTown and even the Olympics. It is an exciting time in Oregon and if we all do our part to create opportunities there will be many more stories to come.
