"FIRST HALF" HALF MARATHON

Point Grey TFC had a strong showing at Vancouver's "First Half" Half Marathon today, with Shauna Skinner and Aaron Weidman racing.

Close to 2000 runners took part in the event, hosted by Pacific Road Runners.

Weidman surprised himself, running 1:14:31, to place second in the 20-24 age category (20th overall), behind UBC's Tim Smith (13th overall; 1:11:44).

Dylan Wykes won the race in 1:04:21, bettering his course record set last year, 1:04:39.

Skinner clocked 1:19:23, taking third overall on the women's side. Natasha Fraser was the women's winner, in 1:16:17.

Complete results from the "First Half" are available here.

STEVESTON ICE BREAKER

Point Grey were also represented at the Steveston Ice Breaker 8k, which took place Sunday, Jan. 29. Racers didn't have to break any ice, but battled a strong headwind on the out-and-back course along the Steveston dike.

Steveston's own, Samuel Pawluk, continued his preparation for the NACAC Cross Country Championships, where he will represent Canada on the senior men's team, by running 25:06, to place second overall. Steve Osaduik won the race in 24:53.

Shauna Skinner had a good showing, winning the women's race, in 28:42, by a close margin over Catherine Watkins (28:45). Sabrina Wilkie completed the podium, clocking 28:55.

Complete results are available here.
