It was a stellar weekend for Speed River athletes at the Canadian Junior Track and Field Championships, the club brought home four medals and a fourth place finish and qualified two athletes for the Pan American Junior Track and Field Championships in Miramar, Florida. Leading the way was Emily Driedger who captured the silver in the women's 2000 metre steeplechase in 7 minutes 3.64 seconds and the bronze in the women's 3000 metres in 10 minutes 6.42 seconds. As a result of her finish in the 3000 metres and her strong showings earlier in the season Driedger was named to the Pan Am team in the 5000 metres. Teammate Carise Thompson will also be representing Canada in the 5000 after placing second in the 3000 metres in a time of 10 minutes 0.69 seconds. Rounding out the Speed River medalist was Chris Dulhanty who captured the bronze in the men's 3000 metre steeplechase in a time of 9 minutes 6.31 seconds. Teammate Charlie Sutton was impressive fourth in the men's 400 metre hurdles in a life time best performance of 54.80 seconds.

Finally Ross Proudfoot who runs for his home club of Track North but trains with the Speed River group and runs for the University of Guelph finished second in the men's 1500 metres in a time of 4 minutes 5.15 seconds, Proudfoot will be joining Driedger and Thompson in Miramar.
