Who I Am...

You have opened the profile of the all time great Connor Paul Kasler IV.Well basically if you do not know me im a strong believer in Christ and I live my life for him and run 24/7 for Hidden Valley High. I dont know if life could be any better than that. I grew up in a small shaggy town in Alaska called Skagway and then when I was 12 years old my family decided to move to Grants Pass because of its location and climate. I pretty much only played basketball when I moved down from there and thats what I thought I'd be doing for the rest of my life, but my basketball career came to its end this summer and I know live and die for running and train all summer in the mornings with my running buddies. I really didn't start taking running that serious tell about the middle of my sophmore year at HV and I did the 5k my freshman year in 17:35 I think and placed like 35 or whatever at state and felt pretty pumped about that.I ran track that year and pretty much just ran the 1500 and 800 but wasn't good enough to qualify for state and ran a 2:05 in the 800 and 4:21 in the 1500. Then my running career came to a rocket sonic boom..lol. I ran the 5k this time in 16:45 placing 11th at state almost qualifying for the Borderclash up in Beaverton ( OR's top runners against WA's top runners ). Then it came to the track season and I had an awesome time doing it and I got the school record in the 800 with a time of 1:57.6 and then in the 1500 I ran 4:10. It came down to districts and I knew if I didn't make it to state this year I'd be really pooped and I ended up winning the 800 , falling short of the district record and then it came to Hayward Field up in Eugene,Or. I was pretty nervous when I stepped on to that track but my gosh was I excited, I ran the pre-lims in the 800 and will not talk about that beacuse I bairley made it into the finals and I knew I would have to step it up in the finals and I ended up getting 3rd and was very happy with my sophmore results. Its now summer and im goin through a training program with Coach Goodell and I plan on having a really awesome Junior year. Its now the middle of the summer and I've had one race and that was the the 5000 in Eugene and I got a PR running a 16:26.Now im in the starting of the season and I've had one race and thats Yreka which is a really slow course and ran 16:21. It's now close to state and I've had an awesome year of running running 16:12 beating the school record by almost 9 seconds. Our team is ranked 3rd in state and we have a really good chance of scoring higher .Well the team didnt do to well at state this year but I did pretty good and got 8th which means I getta go to Borderclash! I had the best time of my life up at Borderclash. I was ranked 38th in the oregon boys coming in and i ended up getting 21st beating 17 guys that beat me at state!! :) But I think the best part of the whole experience was getting to meet some awesome people. So yeah I just finished my Junior year of track for HV and it was a good one. I got pr's in all my running events. 1:56 (800), 4:03 (1500) and 8:53 (3000). I did a lot better then I thought I was goin to do so that was a blessing. I ended up winning districts in the 800. Then at state I did the 800 and I was ranked second coming in but it just wasn't my day i guess. In the beginning of the race i kind of got boxed in so i had to fight my way out then through out the whole race i was gutting bumped and pushed left and right. I ended up getting 6th with a 1:57. It's now time to focus on my senior of running cross country and track. It's all or nothing for me now and I hope to have an outstanding last year!! Well it’s coming to the end of my senior year and its been an amazing year that I’ll never forget. In cross country our boy ended up winning the state title and I received the third place medal for my individual achievement. My P.R. for the 5000 that season was 15:35. I ended up signing to Western Oregon University!! Great coach ! Its not coming to the end of my senior year in track and it’s going pretty well. I ran a 1:54 in my first 800, 4:00 so far in the 1500 and 8:42 in the 3000.ONE LAST THING....I thank CHRIST for everything he's given Me!!

Connor, This is Matthew Barreau, formerly of Portland State. Charundy is coached by my old head coach, Kebba Tolbert, who is now at UTEP. He was also the guy who was silver in the 200m before DQ'd last year in the Olympics. 4th in the 100m, and a bitter taste in the 200m might make for a great year this year! Kebba said he hasn't had anybody really work with him on his start, so he's got so much room for improvement, still. However, Bolt is quiet a talent, and Tyson Gay is running amazingly right now!

So you were really born in Alaska? What's it like to have the sun still out at 10PM up there?

Well, by the look of your spelling and grammar, I would reconsider who isn't smart. And besides; it's just an opinion. There's no need to get so high-and-mighty on RunnerSpace, dude.Laughing

I could tell you the same thing...and besides, I already did my run in the morning - I have the rest of the day off. If you really want to beat my scores, I'll be having 2 practices and a 5K tomorrow so you can go knock yourself out in the arcade then. Cool?
