Taking My Talents To America

Published by
Chris Nickinson   on Jun 8 2011, 10:44 PM

To paraphrase the great American philosopher Lebron James, "I will be taking my talents to America."

Canada, it's been real.

I think we've learned a lot about each other these last few months. You guys really do want race results and videos uploaded the same day as the event. I really don't mind running the snow. We both agree that gasoline in the US is much, much cheaper than Canada.

You guys run a different flavor of high school track & field up here. There's the age groups and lack of team scoring. You run different distances for hurdles and you even run the steeple. I do love how you run the 3000m and 1500m instead of the bastardized 3200m and 1600m we run out of convienence in the US.

Track meets tend to take a little longer to run up here and that doesn't seem to bother anybody. Nor does a little rain. I had to adjust to that but I like to think that you guys (you awesome meet convenors) had to adjust to having someone care about getting same-day results so that all events out, right?

OFSAA was a huge success this weekend but now it's time to return to the mothership south of the border. The US needs some lovin', too, guys.

I'd like to thank the guys and gals of the Nike Spike Room for grabbing me some Timmys from time to time; all the convenors that went out of their way to make sure I had results, space, internet, etc; the Speed River Track and Field crew in Guelph for being awesome people to hang out with in my down time; and Trainer Dave, JDM and the others who helped cover a few exta events for us.

Till next time, dudes and dudettes
