1/22/2011 An update on various things going or not going on in my life:

Status of Playin In Dirt. It's hard to tell for sure right now what is happening or is going to happen. We missed a couple weeks of making a video and before we knew it here we are six weeks later and no new videos. I think as time passed we kept hoping some sort of reaction from people that watch the videos would spark a new energy in us to continue to make the videos. As least on my part that didn't happen. We got a few comments or texts from people wondering where the next video was or what happened to Tim but it sort of seemed like we didn't have the audience we thought we had. And that's ok, we partly make the videos for ourselves anyway. It motivates us to train hard while having fun. We want to make more videos and would love more input from viewers like things they like or want to see more of. Just give us some feedback and suggestions and we'll do it. As for blogging, I am switching from a training log style to more of a periodic update on what is going on in my world and my mind. So expect one of these 2-3 times a month from me.

Training Update. I've been killing workouts since the new year and am in very good shape right now. Last week I ran a 3x300m workout and hit 35's on all of them. Not bad considering it was on a dirt track and in racing flats. I think it was only a day after that workout that I got a text from my agent about pacing the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games. Running at Madison Square Garden has always been on my bucket list of things to do in my running career and is actually one of the few boxes unchecked. So I am super pumped to have this opportunity. In the field are Bernard Lagat and Deresse Mekonnen among others. Most already know Lagat; he is going for his 9th Wanamaker victory while Mekonnen was last year's indoor world champion. No pressure eh? The plan is to hit 1:55 through 800 and get as far as 1000m before pulling off. Another reason I'm excited is this will be my first pacing job for a mile (or 1500m). Who knows, if I do well this could open up some more opportunities down the road to pace bigger races. The meet will be televised on ESPN 2 live on Jan 28 from 8:00-10:00 pm Eastern Time. I'll be the last event around 9:45 pm but don't cheer for me, there's not a chance that I finish that race haha. After Millrose I don't have any races planned but would like to run a local 600m sometime. I think a 1:15 in February may raise some eyebrows :)

Life Update. Well, how to put this.. I'm living the single life again. It sucks but what can you do? Long distance relationships are tough and aren't for everyone. But on the bright side I am getting more serious about training and work stuff for RunnerSpace. My day to day routine is almost the same every day now. I eat oatmeal for breakfast, workout, eat a turkey sandwich for lunch, and am on my computer most of the rest of the day until I walk to the Mexican grocery store up the street to buy something I can fix for dinner. Sounds like I'm livin the dream eh? I've also been growing my hair out as you may know from watching some blog videos. I still haven't cut it but am faced with a really tough decision with Millrose and me being on National television for 2+ minutes coming up next week. At this point though I am planning on leaving it right where it is. In other news, my Oregon Ducks were in the BCS national championship game a couple weeks ago. I made the drive from LA to Glendale to lend my support. It was alot of fun and the game was unbelievably good. The second half was so intense. i didn't have a ticket so I ended up watching it in a nearby bar where the fan ratio of Tiger to Duck fans was about the same which made it a really cool atmosphere. I wish we would have won but at least we silenced some critics that said we didn't belong. I also wish the game hadn't ended like it did. I don't even think Auburn would want to win that way. 9 times out of 10 any referee would call a player down when every player on the field stops playing because they think the play is over because the back got tackled. Nonetheless, I love my Ducks as much as ever and am antsy for next season already. I'm also already thinking ahead to where I'll be next year. Alot will depend on how my season as a pacer goes but at this point my best option is to throw a dart at a map of North America and take my chances...

P.S. I Redesigned my website and am pretty proud of it so check it out! www.SchererSpeed.com
