j&a racing is excited to announce the new course for the 2015 Blue Moon Harbor Lights Half Marathon being held on Sunday, November 22nd. With the announcement of the 2015 Harbor Lights being the Collegiate Running Association (CRA) National Championship, a course change was needed to accommodate more runners and improve the experience for participants and residents. The new course, reduces the use of narrow paths and lanes, as well as, avoids common flood areas and cobblestone streets. The“tour of Norfolk” feel of the course, will highlight Downtown, Norfolk’s scenic water views historic neighborhoods, and arts and cultural landmarks. Participants experience all the City of Norfolk has to offer and end with an exciting finish and celebration in Town Point Park.

A special thanks to the City of Norfolk Special Events, Public Works Right-of-Way Division and Transportation Division and Norfolk Police Department for exploring all options and working hard to design a course that runners will enjoy and residents can be proud of. Also, thanks to the community, neighborhoods and businesses in Downtown, Ghent, Larchmont, Lambert’s Point, Old Dominion University, Chelsea, Freemason and West Ghent for supporting and welcoming runners.

We are confident that whether you are looking to challenge yourself against some of the best collegiate runners in the country, see some of the beautiful sights of Norfolk, or just get some exercise in with thousands of your closest friends, this course will deliver. The 2015 Blue Moon Harbor Lights Half Marathon Weekend and the Holidays in the City: Grand Illumination & Parade Downtown Norfolk are the perfect way to celebrate Norfolk and get excited about the holiday season!
