About Craig Davis...

After 32 years at the Sun Sentinel, during which I have covered sports as varied as baseball and yachting and worked as a copy editor and page designer, I have an opportunity to write about the local sports scene that blends with my own recreational interests. I compete in many of the road races in South Florida, and would rather be out running, cycling or swimming than watching most any game on TV.

But this blog is not about me, it's about those who share those interests and excel in local competition. My intent is to spotlight local athletes, highlight their accomplishments, share ideas and discuss issues relating to sports such as running, cycling, swimming, diving, triathlon, duathlon, skating, beach volleyball and more.

In recent months I have had the opportunity to gain an appreciation for equestrian, take my first horseback riding lesson and reconnect with curling, a game I learned to play in college more than 30 years ago. This space will offer a chance to address those and other local activities as well as supplement coverage in the daily newspaper.
