Shalane Flanagan, Simon Bairu and Tim Nelson are about as decorated as track athletes can be, with an Olympic bronze medal, multiple national records, and too many All-American honors to count, between the three of them. But on November 7th, these world-class athletes will be rookies all over again, as they race 26.2 miles for the very first time, at the world's greatest marathon: the ING New York City Marathon.
