]]> Tue, 25 Aug 2009 20:12:59 +0000 <![CDATA[Blog - T&FN NCAA Predictions]]> (I apologize for the lack of updates over the recent weeks, but I have been travelling and do not have consistent internet access)

With the NCAA Championships starting on Wednesday, Track and Field News released their final predictions for the meet.  Click here for the men's predictions, and here for the women's predictions.  I generally agree with their predictions, expecting Eva Orban (USC) and Marcel Lomnicky (Virginia Tech) to win.  However, I also think Sharon Ayala (Fresno State) may place higher than T&FN picks her on the women's side.  With a close field on the men's side, look for the consistent throwers to stand out.  That means that someone like Nate Rolfe (Georgia), who doesn't have the best season's best, may exceed expectations.  Anyway, I'll have results posted here after the competition.

]]> Wed, 10 Jun 2009 07:37:43 +0000 Blog - Weekend Wrapup for the Weekend of 5/23/09 Several Championships took place over the weekend with some great finshes to the season.  Nearly ever winner capped their season with a new personal best.

At the NCAA Division II Championships (Men's results | Women's results) Drew Frizzell (Central Missouri) threw a new personal best of 66.88m to win.  He also had two more throws over 66 meters in a competition where five throwers surpassed 200 feet.  Top seeded Danielle Thu (UC San Diego) also threw a personal best to win the women's competition.

Aubrey Baxter (Black Hills State) defended her championships at the NAIA Championships (Men's results | Women's results).  Baxter threw a new meet record and personal best of 61.48m to win.  Greg Schultz (Concordia-Oregon) also defended his title with a new personal best of 64.24m.

At the NCAA Division III Championships (Men's results | Women's results), sophomore Bryan Kolacz (Keene State College) tossed a new best of 61.48m to win.  Ellie Sitek (Wisconsin-Osh Kosh) won the women's competition.

The NJCAA Championships (Men's results | Women's results) were won by Chris Holly (Neosho County Community College) and Alesha Asijie (Mesa Community College).

]]> Tue, 26 May 2009 03:13:56 +0000 Blog - Results for the Weekend of 5/16/09 With nearly every major college championships taking place over the weekend, there were plenty of improvements.  On the women's side, Sharon Ayala (Fresno State) improved her best to 66.52m and moved into third nationally.  Dorotea Habazin (Virginia Tech) moved up to fourth with a toss of 65.98m.  Eva Orban (USC) continued her consistent season with a win at the Pac 10 Championships and Krishna Lee (Missouri) won the Big 12 title with a new personal best.

The men's race continued to be close over the weekend.  Both Chris Rohr (Missouri) and Marcel Lomnicky (Virginia Tech) threw over 71 meters again.  Walter Henning (LSU) threw just under 70 meters to win the SEC title.  In the meantime, Simon Wardhaugh (Boise State) closed in on 70 meters, and Alex Pessale (Princeton) had another great throw this weekend.
