At
6:30 a.m. on Saturday morning, 500 runners finished loading the last
morsels of carbs into their bellies and lined up in the plaza at
Newpark for the start of the Park City Marathon. At 6:45, 700 more hit
the pavement for the half marathon, an equally scenic but slightly less
grueling endeavor.

Throughout the morning, the 1,200 runners from 42
states and several Canadian provinces traversed Park City's bike paths
and trails, completing a combined 22,100 miles.

The youngest
runner, 11-year-old Pete Benda from Sandy, Utah, finished the half
marathon in just under two hours and 20 minutes, placing second in the
14-and-under age division. The oldest runner, 74-year-old Lavone Pyle
from Murray, Utah, ran the half marathon in three hours and 26 minutes.

The winning time was one hour and 16 minutes for the 13-mile
half marathon (Nathan Hornok of Salt Lake City) and two hours 48
minutes for the 26-mile marathon (Dave Spence of Salt Lake City).

News - Real Buzz Tools

http://www.runnerspace.com/eprofile.php?event_id=547&do=news&news_id=5702

Forums, Blogs and Route Planner.

In an ongoing effort to improve our events and our website, Park City Marathon has partnered with www.realbuzz.com to offer our runners a new level of interaction on line. Realbuzz.com is the UK’s most popular lifestyle and community on line networking site aimed at individuals interested in fitness and nutrition, and, especially, running. They have “jumped the pond” and have launched www.realbuzz.com here in the US.

FORUMS – our new event forums provide an online community for sharing information about the Park City Marathon: logistics, course information, training, goal setting, and fun stuff to do along the way, advice for newbies, and more!

BLOGS –realbuzz.com blogs are as good as blogs you find elsewhere, but they are better because they are designed for runners! Sure, you can share your own personal story, photos, communicate among friends you make on line, etc. but our realbuzz.com enhanced blogs also allow you to personalize your blog to a specific running event and goal. You can document your runs on our integrated workout log which is built right into your running blog. The workout log allows you to record the length and duration of your runs as well as other pertinent information such as weather, terrain, weight, etc. in an easy-to-use, easy-to-read format.

ROUTE PLANNERS – www.realbuzz.com route planners are great in two ways: You can plan out -- and measure -- your next run from the comfort of your chair (and then print it out and stick it in your pocket for your run) with our GPS based interactive maps. You can also save your runs for future reference. As runners save their runs, they can also search out other runs based on zips codes and cities. You can find running routes when you travel, or when you are checking out a new area. The route planner is yet another way to be an on line community, and, like the other www.realbuzz.com features is based on your passion: running.
