Dudes, the season is over. It's time to put the toes in the sand and enjoy the sunset on the beach.

Nationals this weekend was amazing. That's really the only way to describe it.

The race at Portland Meadows was much like my description of the Illinois State Meet. Perhaps the performances of York and Naperville North (2nd and 3rd respectively) tipped emotions in that direction. 

Whatever it was, it was spectacular. Hopefully, all the kids will realize how special of an opportunity they were a part of this weekend was. Getting to compete in a national championship whether it be NCAA or NXN or whatever is something that only a small percentage of the xc population get to do.

Well gang. I hope y'all didn't eat too much turkey today so you can run fast this weekend.

I'm in Chapel Hill, NC this weekend for NXN Southeast and I couldn't be more excited. It has been a fun season chasing you Midwest harriers around but this weekend I get to see my fellow Southerners tear up the dirt.

It's going to be a jam packed weekend. We've got Olympic bronze-medalist (and fellow Smoky Mountain counselor alum) Shalane Flanagan coming to hang out and Coach Jason Vigilante will be around, too.

Ok, so it was a one sided shootout.

Not even Chuck Norris himself could have stopped the freight train that is The Woodlands XC program today at NXN South.

Yep, it was that kind of day.

For us southerners, the weather was nippy. You guys in Illinois would have called it perfect. Either way Reed Connor took advantage as he pillaged the record books and demolished Colby Lowe's (you may have heard of him) course record by 17 seconds.

Sparks flew during the girls race, too, and not just from the race itself. The truck got a little TLC from from jumper cables after the batteries died. The Woodlands girls didn't didn't let the boys take all the glory as they won their race, too.

I fully expect to see a sea of red and green clad parents in Portland in 2 weeks supporting The Highlanders.

Alright dudes & dudettes, I'm off to Cary, NC for the Southeast race. You guys take it easy, and remember - if it's easy, take it twice.

I've been back on the road as I head south to The Woodlands for the NXN South Regional, and I've had a bit of a trip down memory lane as part of my trek has taken me past the sites of my first two meets of the season, The Fleet Feet Kickoff in St Louis and The Challenge of Champions in Mobile.

It's hard to believe how fast time has flown by, but it's all been so much fun that I won't complain about it.

I know some of you kids still have some regular season racing. Yesterday, I watched my high school team run some 400s on the same dirt course I used to run many moons ago as they sharpen up for the Florida State Meet. You guys keep focused on your state meet, and everyone, get excited for all the fun that is the impending regional race!!

Well boys and girls, here we go.

The first weekend of NXN Regional Meet is upon us. I'm in Sioux Falls, SD for the Heartland meet. I was at the course yesterday and it is wet. I can't wait for it to freeze over Friday night and really make things interesting.

The conditions will most definitely expose the strongest, fiercest cross runners in the Heartland. This is not a place for the timid.

Make sure to check out all the updates to come this weekend. I'll have tons of pictures and maybe some cool videos, too.
