This season we have 2 home track meets on March 25 & April 22, both Thursdays. Meets begin at 3:00 p.m. and end between 7:00 or 8:00. We urgently need more volunteers as it takes many people to put on a meet. Volunteers need not be there all day and you will see time slots are available in the early afternoon and later in the evening.
Please go to the TOHS Track & Field website at www.runnerspace.com/to, and look in the center column (under the results from the Ventura meet) for the link about home meet volunteering. There you will find a list of what volunteer positions are available. Choose what you would like to do and email Pam Lewis with your preference.
TOHS Track has always had the reputation of putting on some of the best run meets in the Ventura County. Your participation will help keep that reputation alive and enhance your sons' and daughters' track experience.
FYI - we DO NOT NEED volunteers for the snack shack.
There are 2 specific jobs that are very important to fill. The first is someone to learn how to input the field events into the computer program that provides printed results and scores. Pam Lewis is doing doing this job this season but needs to train someone to carry on when her son graduates in June. It would involve helping her in the tent area near the finish line thus learning the program. We would prefer a parent that has a 9th or 10th grade student so we would not have to train someone every year.
The second job is probably the most important of the meet. We need someone to learn the computer program that assigns times and places to the athletes after the conclusion of their races. Again, this position needs to be someone with younger athletes, requires a few hours of training prior to the meet who can come to the meet at 2:00 an hour before the meet begins.
If we can get more than one person for either or both of these positions that would be wonderful. If you are interested in either position email Coach Keena at coachkeena.tohs@gmail.com. Our meets cannot happen without these 2 positions being filled. Ben Navarro, our Booster Club President from last year, has graciously consented to being there to run our finish line/camera and is willing to train new people. The finish line is an exciting place to be during the meet. It is where a lot of the action takes place!
Thank you for your consideration,
Coach Keena & your Booster Board
