Defending U.S. Indoor 800 Champion Nick Symmonds To Open 2008 in Boston

OTC Elite LogoEugene, Oregon – By: Mark Rinker – OTC Elite team member and defending USATF Indoor 800 meter Champion Nick Symmonds will open his Olympic year this weekend (January 26th) at the Reebok Boston Indoor Games. Symmonds will be competing in the 800 meters, which is scheduled to begin at 6:35 pm (EST), and hopes to defend his 2007 Boston Indoor Games title in route to some other major goals.

Boston will be Symmonds first race since the 2007 World Championship’s in Osaka Japan. After a fall of training Symmonds is excited about the upcoming Olympic year, however he puts the opener in Boston in perspective “I want to get the rust our of the leg’s and run well, but I also want to get a qualifier (1:48.5) for USA’s and World’s, and if I have a chance I would like to get the meet record (1:47.92) too.” The U.S. Indoor Championships are also in Boston on February 23rd and 24th, while the World Indoor Championships are in Valencia Spain, on March 7th-9th.
