Moanalua Duo Sweeps Division 1 Individual Titles; Radford Girls End Punahou's 11-Year Streak By Mary Albl of DyeStat It was a record-breaking day for the Moanalua cross country program on Saturday at the Honolulu Marathon/HHSAA Cross Country Championships, held at Keopuolani Regional Park on Maui. Moanalua High’s Sadie Krueger and James Millare won the girls and boys Division I individual titles and become the first school to do accomplish that feat a the Hawaii state meet since 1993 when Kalaheo had both winners. Krueger’s victory was extra sweet as the freshman won the 5,000-meter race in a time of 18 minutes, 4.2 seconds, the fastest time by any female in the history of the meet. (Hawaii started running 3-mile courses at state in 2005 and moved to 5,000 in 2016). Second place overall went to Campbell junior Ashlyn Jacobsen (18:19.73). The girls team race was also historic as Radford scored 88 points to win the Division 1 title for the first time since 1980. Freshman Ivy Trowbridge was the top finisher for the team in 11th place in a time of 20:10.3. The team victory put an end to the Punahou girls' bid for a 12th straight DI crown.
