SPOKANE - Athletes at the 2026 Spokane High School Invitational set eight top 10 marks in the national prep track and field scene across the second of three days of competition at The Podium Powered by STCU.

UCLA commit Aster Jones (Roosevelt OR) led the way in the girls 60 meters across both the prelims and finals. Jones set a season's best 7.43 seconds in the prelims before blowing it away with a US#3 7.37, leading an Impact Athletics sweep of the podium with teammates Pharalynn Dickson (South Albany OR) and Charis Rettmann (South Albany OR) getting second and third respectively.

“I’ve been training so hard these past few months just trying to get the little details down,” Jones said. “In that race, I really put together my top end talent with my start and I think that's why I got the result I did. It’s just nice to see that I’m really moving forward.”

Jayden Grevious (Moanalua HI) of Hawaii Spartan Track Club ousted Dash Lamebull-Ingram (Eastside Catholic WA) and Joseph Donnelly (Central Catholic OR) in the boys 60, bolting to a US#10 6.79. Grevious entered the meet with a personal best of 6.93 and dropped over a tenth of second in his first indoor meet.

“You’ve gotta come in with confidence if you’re gonna get the job done. You’ve gotta believe in yourself before anybody else,” Grievous said. “Thats the mindset I came in with and I got it done.”

Yehven Zhmailo (Lake Washington WA) of GLS Speed Track Club continued his domination of the jumps events at The Podium with a US#2 24 feet, 6.25 inches (7.47m) leap to win the boys long jump over Donnelly’s 23-06.75 (7.18m), setting a new personal record even with a hurt heel. The Oklahoma commit took both the long and triple jumps at the Spokane High School Preview last weekend and is the favorite for tomorrow’s triple jump.

GLS also swept the women’s long jump with Michigan commit Laine McKenzie (Cedarcrest WA) claiming victory with a leap of 18-10.00 (5.74m) and Aaliyah Khan (Mercer Island WA) clinching second with a jump of 18-00.25 (5.49m).

The club from Seattle came into Saturday’s action with an invite win already under their belt from Friday as Eddie Bruner Jr. (Lincoln WA) won the boys 400 in 47.39. Finishing just ahead of teammate Kenyon Andrews’ 47.75 (Hazen WA), Bruner Jr. 's time was good enough for US#6.

Iowa commit Sutton Flint (Libert-Issaquah WA) grabbed another win for GLS in the boys 60 hurdles in US#3 7.72. Shelby Duah (University Place, WA) of Alpha Speed Academy won the girls 60mH in 8.66.

Michigan commit Sophia Castaneda (Newberg OR) took the girls 400 in a US#7 54.64.

Sophomore Clayton Jero (Summit OR) dominated the boys 3,000 from wire-to-wire in a persona best time of 8:31.82, nearly nine seconds ahead of the runner-up for a US#8 performance.

On the women’s side of the event, Gonzaga commit Sloan Dickson (Lynden WA) of Galbraith Track Club took the girls 3k in 10:26.06, returning after second-place finish last year to outkick Cherry City’s Avery Meier (West Salem OR) in 10:27.55.

But in the girls 800, Dickson’s 2:14.98 couldn’t quite catch Annabelle Carr (Coeur d'Alene Charter ID) of the Spokane Speed Academy after the Oregon commit led the race from start to finish for an indoor personal of 2:14.52.

Similarly, Dartmouth commit Findlay Hartshorn (Bear Creek WA) of Ignite Track Club dominated the boys 800, just breaking into the national top 10 with a 1:52.99.

Kimberly Beard (King's WA) won the girls shot put with a heave of 40-09.75 (12.44m) for Get Strong First Track Club and will compete in the girls weight throw on Sunday. Riley McGrath (Bozeman, MT) threw a personal best of 59-06.25 (18.14m) to claim victory in the boys shot.

Sophomore Jonathan Allen (Hanford WA) set a new meet record of 15-07.00 (4.75m) in the boys pole vault. Maile England (Wenatchee WA) of Northwest Pole Vault took victory in the girls event with a 11-09.75 (3.60m).

The Spokane High School Invitational continues tomorrow at 10:00 a.m., starting with the boys high jump. The first invitational track heat runs are set for 1:55 p.m. with the girls mile.
