2023 champions Morgan Beadlescomb and Annie Rodenfels return

Hillary Bor, Sam Prakel, Susanna Sullivan, and Natosha Rogers to contend for title

New York, October 28, 2024 – The day before more than 50,000 runners from nearly 150 countries finish the TCS New York City Marathon, New York Road Runners (NYRR) will welcome 11 national champions to the 2024 USA Track & Field (USATF) 5 km Championships at the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K, Saturday, November 2.

Following in the footsteps of the professional athletes, nearly 10,000 runners from around the world, including top local athletes and many TCS New York City Marathon participants, will join in the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K, one of 60 adult and youth races produced by local nonprofit New York Road Runners.

The event’s professional athlete field will be led by defending champions Morgan Beadlescomb and Annie Rodenfels, who captured their first national titles during the 2023 Dash.

Challenging Beadlescomb will be 2023 runner-up and USATF 8 km champion Ahmed Muhamed, two-time Olympian Hillary Bor, 2024 USATF 10K champion Biya Simbassa, and 2023 World Road Running Championships bronze medalist Sam Prakel.

“The Abbott Dash 5K is incredibly special, especially since it’s the site of my first national title,” said Beadlescomb. “I’m excited to return to New York on the best weekend of the year, line up against an incredible field, and repeat last year’s magic.”

In the women’s race, Rodenfels, who also won the USATF 6 km Championships in June, will be joined by two-time World Athletics Championships finalist Natosha Rogers, NCAA champion Elly Henes, and the 10th-fastest American marathoner in history, Susanna Sullivan.

“My 2023 trip to New York was beyond what I could have imagined, and it was an honor to stand on the top of the podium,” said Rodenfels. “The energy during marathon weekend is electric and there’s no better way to continue my fall racing season than by defending my national title.”

Abbott, the title sponsor of the Abbott World Marathon Majors, is the sponsor of the Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K for the eighth time. Abbott, a global healthcare leader, helps people live more fully with life-changing technology and celebrate what’s possible with good health.

The Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K annually provides TCS New York City Marathon supporters, friends, and families the opportunity to join in on the thrill of marathon race week. The course begins on Manhattan’s east side by the United Nations, then takes runners along 42nd Street past historic Grand Central Terminal and up Sixth Avenue past the world-famous Radio City Music Hall. It then passes through the rolling hills of Central Park before finishing at the iconic TCS New York City Marathon finish line.

The Abbott Dash to the Finish Line 5K and USATF 5 km Championships will be broadcast live via USATF.TV. The broadcast is scheduled to begin at 8:20 a.m. ET with the first race starting at 8:30 a.m. ET.
