Nike and the New York State Federation are partnering on a post-season cross-country championship event, merging Nike Cross Regionals and the New York Federation Cross Country Championships into one. While doing this has no direct effect on Northeast teams and athletes, the change has enabled us to move the regional a week earlier.  Not only will the schedule change benefit athletes competitively, it frees them, their parents, coaches and our staff to be able to fully enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday and weekend.  We hope the experience is enjoyable for all.

DIRECTIONS TO RACE COURSE

For your GPS, the address is Bowdoin County Park, 85 Sheafe Rd, Wappingers Falls NY 12590

The park is on the east bank of the Hudson River north of Newburgh and the easiest access is from US 84 north on Rt 9D.

From the North and North East: CT, ME, MA, NH, VT, RI
All US Roads that lead to The thruway US 87….south to Newburgh-Beacon Bridge - US 84. Cross bridge and take first exit across the river, Rt 9D.* Proceed north on 9D to Rt 28, turn left, and follow 28 until the end at Main Street. Turn right and as the road turns to the right it becomes Channingville Rd. Continue for a short distance and make left on Sheafe Rd, there is a sign that points to Bowdoin Park. The park is a short distance down the road on your left.

From the South and West: NJ, PA
All US roads that bring you to 87 norths or 84 west. From 87 north proceed to the Newburgh-Beacon bridge exit, US84 east…Follow directions as above (*) after crossing the Hudson.

From the East: Downstate NY and CT
Any roads that bring you to US 84 west. Exit at Rt 9, turn right going north, Proceed to Rt 28, turn left, follow directions as above to the park.* (same directions as from 9D…only starting at a point a few miles further east of 9D).

RUN THROUGH DAY (FRIDAY) PARKING

Depending on volume, we may close the lower levels of the park to all vehicles including buses.  We ask your patience and understanding that we are acting in the interests of safety if we find it necessary to take this step.

DAY OF RACE PARKING
Only large coach buses will be permitted in the lower lot. Small buses or school vans will be parked in the area at the playground.  Handicapped parking will be at that level or at a higher level. based on availability.  Because the park and the course are hilly some walking is necessary to get to the start finish area. No parking on Sheafe Rd or other town roads patrolled by Local and State Police. Safety is our main concern on site. Admission to the park is $10 per vehicle.  Cars with 4 athletes are free.
