WALNUT, Calif. – No matter the meet, no matter the record, when Brandon Arrington Jr. steps onto the track, it's a moment to remember.

A week after taking down taking down Noah Lyles’ 200 meters meet record at the Arcadia Invitational, the Mount Miguel CA junior added a pair of meet records at the Mt. SAC Relays on Saturday at Hilmer Lodge Stadium.

Arrington Jr. ran 20.44 seconds to crush Nikolas Millers’ 2023 meet record time of 20.86. In doing so, Arrington Jr. won by a full second in the invitational, running completely solo.

Arrington Jr. also lowered his personal best in the 100, winning the invitational section in 10.21 to best Michael Norman’s 2016 record of 10.27 to get the sweep of the boys 100 and 200 races.

While Arrington Jr. shined bright on the individual side, the boys from Servite CA shared a moment of their own with another meet record in the 4x100 meter relay.

Coming off a California state record time of 40.00 at Arcadia, the team of Jorden Wells, Benjamin Harris, Kamil Pelovello and Robert Gardner took down St. John Bosco's meet record of 40.80 to run 40.15 for another invitational win.

Servite now owns two of the top three prep performances in California history, with their 40.15 ranking third all-time. Poly (Long Beach) CA in 1999 ran 40.14.

McKay Madsen of Clovis North CA bounced back from a tough Arcadia meet with a pair of wins in the boys discus and shot put. The senior began the day throwing 197 feet, 8 inches in discus, followed by 63-4 in shot put. He threw with a broken middle finger he suffered outside of competition in both events.

Tayshaun Ogomo of Herriman UT ran a personal best 1:51.01 to win the boys invitational 800 meters. He later returned for the distance medley relay, where the Mustangs won in 10:00.25, out kicking Clovis East CA by a small margin.

Jasir Fontenot, freshman from San Diego CA, ran 13.62 to win the boys invitational 110 meter hurdle race.

Kaedyn Burroughs of Wilson (Long Beach) CA needed a season's best in the 400 meters to win the boys invitational race in 47.09.

Vincent Carnegie of Stockdale CA won by over a second in the boys invitational 400-meter hurdles, clocking a personal best 54.14.

Brandon Andrade of Etiwanda CA and Jayden Rendon of Carson CA produced the top two times in the state in the boys 300-meter hurdles, with Andrade winning 36.79 and Rendon in second in 36.86.

Wilson (Long Beach) CA narrowly got past Poly (Riverside) CA in the boys 1,600-meter sprint medley relay by a 3:30.03 to 3:30.10 margin.

Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) CA won a close race in the boys 4x200 meter relay, running 1:27.28 to beat Shadow Ridge NV in 1:28.00.

Westview CA won the boys invitational shuttle hurdle relay in 1:01.83.

Khaliq Muhammad of Pittsburg CA cleared a state-leading and US#5 height of 17-1 to earn the win in the boys pole vault.

Camren Smith of Quartz Hill CA won the boys triple jump competition by over 10 inches, jumping 48-1.25.

Quentin Mitchell of Antelope CA jumped 6-8 to claim the boys high jump title.

Kaylin Edwards Breaks 41 Seconds In 300 Hurdles

Competiton pushed Kaylin Edwards to a huge PR in the girls 300-meter hurdles.

The Wilson (Long Beach) CA senior separated herself from Morgan Herbst of Carlsbad CA by one hundredth of a second to win the girls invitational 300-meter hurdles in a personal best and US#3 time of 40.56, going under 41 seconds for the first time of her career.

Edwards become the third Wilson athlete in school history to run under 41 seconds in the 300 meter hurdles, joining Lashinda Demus (39.98) and Ebony Collins (40.10), who rank third and fourth all-time on the prep list. Edwards broke Collins' 2006 Mt. SAC meet record of 40.97 en route to her win.

Makenna Herbst of Carlsbad CA broke Cate Peters' meet record of 2:06.89 in the girls invitational 800 meters, running 2:04.90 to earn back-to-back weekend wins going with her victory at Arcadia.

Both the Herbst twins finished the day guiding Carlsbad to win the girls 4x400 meter relay in 3:48.12.

Rosary CA, like their brother school Servite, were just as good, if not better, in the 4x100 meter relay, breaking a meet record in the girls invitational race in 45.21.

The team of Tra'via Flournoy, Justine Wilson, Jada Faison and Maliyah Collins inched past the 2006 meet record of 45.22, leading to their win over Poly (Long Beach) CA.

Amira Whitehead of Summit CA delivered a state-leading 53.77 run to win the girls invitational 400 meters, beating Madison Mosby of St. Mary’s Academy CA, who entered this weekend’s race as the state leader.

Destiny Coleman from Woodlawn MD took it to San Diego CA’s Anisa Bowen-Fontenot in the girls 100-meter hurdles, running a personal best 13.37 for a US#7.

Another east coast athlete, Ryan Jennings of Timber Creek NJ, made her cross-country trip worthwhile, winning the both girls 100 and 200 meter invitational race in 11.51 and 23.46, respectively.

Soleil Warner of Bay School of San Francisco produced a US top-15 time in the girls 400-meter hurdles, winning the invitational section in 1:01.06.

Wilson (Long Beach) CA lowered its own nation-leading time in the girls 4x100 shuttle hurdles relay, running 58.30.

Canyon (Canyon Country) CA pulled away from Calabasas CA in the girls 4x200 relay, running 1:37.01 for the invitational win.

Bullard CA found another gear in the girls distance medley relay, running 11:50.11 to beat a good Santiago (Corona) CA team by over a second.

Paige Echsner of Del Norte CA secured a big win in the girls pole vault, clearing a state-leading and US#4 height of 13-9, beating second-place by a foot.

Jaslene Massey of Aliso Niguel CA took care of business in the girls shot put against Aja Johnson of Notre Dame (Sherman Oaks) CA for a second consecutive weekend, throwing 48-8.25 after beating her at Arcadia.

Johnson, who finished second to Massey in shot put, responded with another major-meet victory in the girls discus, throwing 152-9.
