Florida Star Grant Holloway Joining adidas

By Todd Grasley for DyeStat

It’s official. Grant Holloway, who set the 110-meter hurdles collegiate record June 7,  announced via social media Friday night that he will be a member of the adidas family saying,” The saga continues.. | @adidasrunning #HereToCreate #Living3StripesLife #WonderBoy”. A video followed showing him making the deal official.

After being courted by many shoe companies, adidas' commitment to him from the very beginning paid dividends in the end.

“They took care of me and they believed in me at times I didn’t even believe in myself,” he said. "You are always going to go with a group that always had trust in you, and that is what I did with adidas.”

In addition to the 110-meter hurdle collegiate record, Holloway also anchored the 4x100 relay that became the first team in collegiate history to ever break 38 seconds and finished the night as the anchor (43.75 seconds) on the Gators’ 4x400 relay. He summed up his season in two words.

“Phenomenal and a blessing,” he explained. “Those two words go hand in hand with what I did this season. I am very happy with what I accomplished and wouldn’t change anything.”

The decision to end his college career wasn’t necessarily a difficult one. Many had speculated Holloway would lean that way even at the start of the season.

“It really wasn’t,” he said. “I have parents that love me and always stay in my corner. I let them handle most of the process and they steered me in the right direction. Now that I am a professional, I can’t wait to give back to them.”

Holloway won’t let his new status change him. He’s still the humble, respectful athlete America has grown to love. He had the week off from training after his NCAA performance, but that didn’t stop him from being a student of the sport.

“I sat around and watched a lot of film,” he explained. “I watched the NCAA race probably 5,000 times just to see how I can get better. I wanted to get some rest as well and spend some time with my family before the season starts back up again.”

After watching the race, he gave himself a "B+" and knows there is always room for improvement.

“I’m not going to harp on myself because I ran a collegiate record and was able to do it with my best friend Daniel Roberts,” he said. “Now, I’m ready to conquer the world with him and take back some medals for Team USA.”
