Brynn Brown Runs Fantastic 9:39 3,200m Time TrialPublished by
Denton Guyer TX Junior Runs Faster Than High School Record By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Brynn Brown of Denton Guyer TX made some sort of history Tuesday by running eight laps on a track in a hand-timed 9 minutes, 39.7 seconds. That's faster than the national high school record. Track and Field News record-keeper Jack Shepard lists 2-mile times and Brown's time converts to something around 9:44. That's obviously faster than the 9:47.88 3,200-meter race won by Katelyn Tuohy of North Rockland NY at the Loucks Games in 2018. Tuohy's time converts to 9:51.29 for 2 miles. Brie Oakley of Grandview CO ran 9:51.35 in a 2-mile race at the Brooks PR Invitational in 2017. Brown's conditions were obviously different. She was time-trialing with a trio of boys and there was no official meet happening. Still, she has video evidence of a tremendous performance and she has another year to try and duplicate, or exceed, the effort when track and field makes an official return. Brown suffered an injury early last fall and missed much of the cross country season. She returned in time to win the Nike Cross South regional meet and qualified for nationals. At NXN, Brown finished 23rd, still impacted by her injury. Early in 2020, before the Coronavirus pandemic hit, Brown ran 9:58.58 for 3,200 meters Feb. 29 at the Coppell Relays. More news |
