Foster Won Four World Championship Gold Medals, And Silver At 1984 Olympic Games By Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor Image of Sport photo One of history's greatest hurdlers, Greg Foster, died Sunday according to NBC broadcaster and fellow UCLA alum Ato Boldon. Foster, who dominated the 110-meter hurdles during his career in the 1980s and early 1990s, won World Championships gold medals in 1983, 1987 and 1991. He also won the World Indoor 60-meter hurdles in 1991. He was also the silver medalist in the 110-meter hurdles at the Los Angeles Games in 1984. Foster was 64. He had amyloidosis, a rare and deadly disease that impacts the heart. He had undergone heart transplant surgery in January. Foster was a two-time NCAA champion at UCLA, in 1978 and 1980. He was inducted into the National Track and Field Hall of Fame in 1998. More news |
