"We Are CUIMC" take on Armory's Team Relay Marathon Relay ChallengePublished by
The CUIMC Team Relay Marathon took place at The Armory’s New Balance Track & Field Center on April 29th and 30th, with dozens of teams of up to eight participants each completing 211 laps of The Armory’s 200-meter track. As the title sponsor of the event, CUIMC put together a team of seven women to represent Columbia, joining forces to cover the 26.2 mile distance together as a team.
The members of the aptly named “We Are CUIMC” were:
Tonya Richards, Human Resources Sherley Desulme-Willis, Human Resources Ashley Boyce, Human Resources Mary Ann Carlese, Human Resources Tamara Marie, Faculty Practice Organization Milan Frederick, Pathology Angelic Pla, Pathology
With the seven team members covering nearly four miles each, We Are CUIMC posted a finishing time of 4:32:58. Checking in with the team a day afterwards one participant remarked that she was “still sore and exhausted, but it was so much fun and worth the sacrifice.”
As this was the first time in the five-year history of the event that an all-female team participated in the Medical & Healthcare Division, their finishing time is also a meet record in that category. Given this performance, the We Are CUIMC team members will share a $1,000 prize. After the race concluded, participants stuck around to enjoy food and refreshments provided by R.Cano Catering and Evil Twin Brewing.
We already can’t wait for next year’s event! More news |
