Olympic and World Champions to Star in Women's Sprint Events at the 118th Millrose GamesPublished by
Athletes are being announced each week for the 118th Millrose Games, scheduled to take place on Sunday, February 1st at the Nike Track & Field Center at The Armory. Every event at this legendary track meet will include many of the best athletes in the world, and the Women’s 60m and the Women’s 60m Hurdles will be no exceptions. The 60m will be headlined by reigning 100m Olympic Champion Julien Alfred, and the hurdles will feature a showdown between World Record Holder Devynne Charlton and two-time World Champion Danielle Williams. Women’s 60m Julien Alfred is one of the biggest stars in women’s sprinting currently, storming to victory in Paris to earn St. Lucia’s first-ever Olympic medal. She followed up that performance with Olympic silver in the 200m, and World Championship 100m bronze in 2025. In the 60m, Alfred is the World Indoor Champion, the second-fastest performer ever, and the Millrose Games winner in 2024. “I am looking forward to competing at the Millrose Games as I begin my quest to become the World Indoor Champion yet again!” said Alfred. Athletes slated to challenge Alfred include defending Millrose Champion Jacious Sears, Great Britain’s 2019 200m World Champion Dina Asher-Smith, and three-time US Champion Aleia Hobbs, who is tied with Alfred for the second-fastest 60m mark in history. Women’s 60m Hurdles Devynne Charlton first broke the 60m hurdles world record at the 2024 Millrose Games, before setting the current record of 7.65 seconds at the World Indoor Championships a few weeks later. The Bahamian Olympian defended her World Indoor title in 2025, and her lightning-quick start makes her extremely difficult to beat on the indoor straightaway. “I’m excited to return to New York City for the Millrose Games!” said Charlton. “This event holds a truly special place in my career, as it was the site of my first world record. This meet will be crucial to my preparations as I seek to defend my World Indoor title and secure a historic third consecutive victory.” Danielle Williams of Jamaica won the 100m hurdles at the 2015 and 2023 World Championships, displaying unmatched longevity in the sport. At 33 years old, Williams is still improving, as she ran her outdoor personal best of 12.31 seconds this year in Silesia. Tokyo Olympic bronze medalist Megan Tapper from Jamaica also figures to be a major factor in the hurdles event. The 118th Millrose Games is a World Athletics Indoor Tour Gold meet. Other athletes announced include Grant Fisher and Cole Hocker in the Burgess Family Foundation Men’s 2 Mile, Elle St. Pierre, Jess Hull, and Nikki Hiltz in the NYRR Women’s Wanamaker Mile, Joe Kovacs in the Men’s Shot Put, and the entire reigning NYRR Men’s Wanamaker Mile podium of Yared Nuguse, Hobbs Kessler, and Cameron Myers.
