Blair Bartlett of Lawrenceville School NJ continued to test her limits in the 2-mile on Saturday at The CIRCUIT New York at The Armory and a strong last half of the race brought her to the finish line in 9:44.34.

Bartlett's fast 4:49 second mile salvaged a run for the record books that got out of the gate a bit slow.

Bartlett ran behind a pacer, but the first half mile was about 2:28 and the first mile was 4:55.

The Nike Cross Nationals and Brooks XC Championships runner-up picked it up and ran most of her fastest laps in the second half of the race. Her final lap of 34.4 seconds was her fastest and it moved her ahead of Natalie Cook on the all-time prep indoor 2-mile list.

A week earlier, Barlett had run 9:42.38 in a shorter 3,200 meters race. The conversion to two miles was about 9:45.5.

The other races that lived up to their High Voltage billing were the 800s.

Paige Sheppard from Scotch Plains, N.J. (Union Catholic) outran two of the best 800-meter runners in the country, Ellie Barada from Bloomington, Ind. and Jane Hickey of New Rochelle, N.Y.

Sheppard won it in 2:02.81, an indoor personal best, and improved to No. 6 on the all-time prep list.

Barada was second in 2:03.02 and moved to No. 8 all-time.

Reagan Moore of Summit, N.J. was third in 2:05.23 and Hickey was fourth in 2:05.34.

In the boys 800, Caleb Winders from Bloomington, Ind. ran an indoor personal best of 1:48.82 to lead three boys under 1:50 in a fast race.

Latrell Hughes of Mansfield, Ohio was second in 1:49.45 and Cooper Jeffcoat from Birmingham, Ala. ran 1:49.95.

Middle schooler Gunner Hammet ran an age 13 world record 1:56.23 for ninth place.

Jayden Deleon of The House Running Club (Maryland) won the boys High Voltage 200 meters in 21.31 seconds. Keenan Davis was second with 21.47.

Breanne Barnett from V-Tesse Track Club of Long Island (New York) won the girls 200 in 23.74 seconds.

Ryan Sykes of Chappaqua, N.Y. won the boys 2-mile in 9:02.44.
