Boys 3A 800 Final - OSAA Oregon State Track and Field Championship 1997

This video is from the 1997 Oregon Track and Field state meet.  It was a rainy day, like many days in EugeneWink.  I was VERY nervous as most athletes are before races, but it all ended well.  10 years back, Oregon had 4 classes of schools not 6 like they have now and I was attempting the 400 / 800 double (and 4x400).  With 4 classes of schools the time inbetween the 400 and 800 was around 45 minutes, which felt like 10...  So keep that in mind when you see how far back I was with 200 to go.  I really don't know where the energy came from to finish like that, I think Hayward Field had something to do with it (and my family, friends and coaches).

On a side note, many of the athletes in this race went on to college and did some great things, but who sticks out most is my eventual best man Merritt McDole (sorry for passing you buddy... ha ha).

I know there are 1000s of these kinds of videos out there, so start sharing them on RunnerSpace!!

I noticed the swimming arms, but couldn't see the long gold chain around the neck... are you sure this is Ross?

(OAN - can we file videos under the correct year, please?) LOL ;-)

Holy crap... I think I might have a crazier kick video though, but not of me. I will have to upload it and you can tell me what you think.

Damn Ross, that is some old school stuff- 10 years ago?? very nice, you tore it up that last 200, impressive

Your kick looked impressove because that last lap was in 84 for the rest of the field. I know you're methods Krempley. You probably superimposed yourself in that bad boy. Don't think I didn't notice.

That 800 was freaking ridiculous! I thought I had to come back by a lot to win the 3A boys 800 title....wow. I even decided to drop the 200 and 400, but you won the 400 that day also. That almost looks fake, damn. Can't wait to get my 3A boys 800 race from three years later up.
