Shawnti Jackson can sprint long and she can sprint short.

On Saturday, the senior from South Granville High in North Carolina broke yet another national record, this time her own, in the 60-meter dash.

Racing some of the fastest professionals in the world, Jackson finished fifth in 7.16 seconds – taking .02 seconds off the time that she ran last year.

Jackson wasn't the only one going after that particular high school record Saturday. In the high school girls 60 dash, Micayah Holland from Montverde Academy in Florida ran a meet-record 7.24 seconds. Her teammate, Adaejah Hodge, ran 7.29 seconds for second.

Meanwhile, in Albuquerque, N.M., Mia Brahe-Pedersen of Lake Oswego OR ran a personal-best 7.26 seconds.

All four of them are now among the top 20 high school sprinters of all-time in the 60.

Jackson is just glad to have a slight edge on her peers.

"I love those girls. I have a relationship with all of them. Knowing how good they are and that I'm on top, feels really good," she said.

Jackson, of course, is accustomed to big stages and has relished the opportunities to compete against professional women. From American Track League indoor meets to the Prefontaine Classic to the World U20 Championships, she's seen a lot.

Some other high school stars also got to match up against pros.

One day after a signing ceremony at The Armory, Harvard commit Sophia Gorriaran placed fifth in the women's 600 meters, a race won by Ajee' Wilson. Gorriaran had already put in a 2:01.16 effort in the 800 meters Friday in Boston.

Archbishop Carroll DC star Nyckoles Harbor II hunched down in to the blocks next to Noah Lyles in the men's 60-meter dash and took last with a time of 6.70 seconds. The 6-foot-5, 230-pound 5-star college football recruit aims to compete at an Olympic level someday on the track.

Twin sisters Amanda Moll and Hana Moll of the Northwest Pole Vault Club (Olympia WA) competed alongside Olympic champions Katie Moon and Katerina Stefanidi in the women's pole vault.

The two best high school vaulters in history finished fifth and sixth out of seven competitors. Amanda Moll cleared 14-8.50 (4.48m), the same bar as 2022 NCAA champion Gabriela Leon, a first year pro for PUMA.

Hana Moll made the first two bars but went out at 14-2.75 (4.34m).

And in the men's B section, Rocky Hansen of Christ School NC ran a US#1 prep mile of 4:00.84 to finish fifth. Connor Burns of Southern Boone MO, who broke the four-minute barrier last year, was eighth in 4:03.28.

In the actual high school-only competition, Bullis MD and Montverde Academy FL athletes continued to shine.

Freshman Quincy Wilson of Bullis broke another freshman class national record, adding the 600 meters with his victory in 1:17.80. That result made him the fourth-fastest high schooler of all-time.

The Bullis quartet Myla Greene, Sydney Sutton, Mirai Bernard and Sage Hinton all competed in the girls 300 meters and then joined up less than a half hour later to compete, and win, the 4x200 relay. The group ran No. 15 all-time and US#1 this year 1:37.06.

Montverde Academy's Zyaire Nuriddin won the boys 300 in 33.46 seconds and took the meet record away from his teammate, Issam Asinga, who held it for a few minutes after running 33.57 in the previous heat.

Asinga also won the boys 60 dash in 6.63 for yet another meet record.

Montverde's Micah Larry won the long jump with a meet record 24-11.75 (7.61m) and then quickly went to the start of the 60 and finished third in that event.

The Episcopal School PA boys established a new US#1 in the boys 4x800 relay with 7:45.48.

Union Catholic NJ won the girls 4x800 in US#2 9:04.12.

And the Seton Hall Prep NJ boys ran a meet record 3:15.73 in the Private School 4x400 relay, good for US#2.
